Montana/Alberta Legion Baseball
In Montana, the State legion Baseball program actually extends beyond the State of Montana to include several communities and teams from southern Alberta, where baseball is extremely popular as evidenced by a thriving high school baseball program. Thus, the state league is referred to as the Montana/Alberta Legion Baseball League or MALB.

Class “A” Legion Baseball in Montana consists of 36 teams, including the Class “A” Helena Reps. Class “A” is intended for schools with 10th through 12th enrollments (both boys and girls) of 1,000 students and under. The Class that a team plays in is determined by the 10th, 11th, and 12th grade enrollments (both boys and girls) of high schools from which it receives players. The enrollment limit for a team is 5,000 (larger cities like Billings have 2 “AA” teams and 2 “A” teams).

Class AA teams in larger cities also may create “farm teams” that can participate in Class A (i.e., “AA” Helena Senators and the “A” Helena Reps team). However, Class “A” farm teams cannot play 18-year olds, whereas the other teams in Class “A” only cities can play 18-year olds.
